I conducted an initial phone interview and screening with Eliandry. She states she has a history of having long term working relationships with families-worked with at least 2 families in the past, extensive experience in childcare and has a degree in early childhood education. Her minimum rate for 1 child $25/hr more if teaching is required. She seemed hard working, mature and determined. However I decided not to pursue matters further when she was unable to provide more than 1 reference (dad only because mom was "unavailable"). I assumed between University professors, her extensive childcare training history and prior work experience she should have easily been able to provide more references. However she was rather adamant that she only provide 1 reference. My minimum requirement for childcare is 2 non family members which I verify and a background check on file. If someone seems reluctant/unable to meet that minimum requirement I don't allow them around my child.
