Experience: 7 yrs
I took care of my grandmother who had dementia. She did have aides but I did the basics... light housekeeping, grocery shopping, taking her out for a ride, medication management, bringing her to her appointments. I then was a companion to an elderly lady in Amherst who had dementia. We would talk, sing, play games, watch TV, walk around her, and mostly laugh! I had been with her from August 2017 till February of 2021. I am currently with 2 women 2 days a week each. One I have been friends with for at least 4 yrs decided she could use my help. My other lady is now in Hospice. Not sure yet if she will be coming back home. I've been with her for approximately 3 yrs. I also work at The Dollar Tree in Northampton. I am NOT certified or licensed or CPR trained. I am a COMPANION and I do this because I enjoy being with elderly people. I am a mom of 2 sons... one who will be 22yrs old and one who will be 25. ** I am Covid vaccinated and boosted **
