I left the corporate world in NYC when my children were little so I could be at home to raise them. (My children are now grown and both of them are teachers in NJ public schools!) When I first joined Care. com years ago I was hired by a family in Rumson and babysat full time for 3 children (my rate was $20/hr although they were very generous and always insisted on paying me more). The setting was ideal because I only worked during the hours my children were in school. The 3 children that I cared for are now grown... but I still keep in touch because we have become very close, like an extended family. I also have experience with senior care. I worked as a caregiver for a woman who was bedridden with MS. I did this for 3 1/2 years before her and her husband moved away to be closer to their children. I cooked, fed her meals. laundry, drove to doctor appointments, light cleaning, shopping, planting vegetable garden, and basically whatever else I could help with.
