My passion is tutoring such that students gain confidence. I specialize in MS/HS math, but I do tutor all subjects. I help students with organization, completing assignments on time, and study skills. My rates are negotiable (based on travel, frequency, situation). I am a certified classroom teacher; you will get what you pay for with me! I tutor online and in person. I work to increase your student's understanding of concepts- the "how and why"- not memorizing. I will use teaching techniques that best complement your student's learning style. I worked with Diane for all four years of my high school. I was struggling academically during my freshman year. I was taking the normal level of math for my grade, and she helped me move up a level, which is very rare according to my school. After working with her, I have been able to get into Purdue and will be moving there in the fall. Overall, she is very patient and flexible with students, and she was able to work with me both in person and remote.

Diane tutored my two sons, a Sophomore and a Freshman (who has Asperger's) in Math. Both had very different requirements and ways of learning, but Diane was able to adapt to each very successfully. Both boys' grades improved significantly after Diane started tutoring them and they were very happy for the additional insight and understanding that Diane was able to give them outside their classroom environment. We would have very happily re-engaged Diane for their Junior and Sophomore years respectively, but Diane moved cross-country. Diane was a lifesaver during COVID when my son couldn't get the love instruction he needed at school. She helped him learn math, yes, but also helped him stay on top of his three AP classes and throughout the year. When school resumed in person, we kept her on to support his learning the whole next year. She made herself available on short notice in a pinch - like when there was a test the next day. She cares about her kids, gets to know them. Highly recommend.

There is absolutely no one better!! Diane took initiative to reach out to instructors without a thought. She executed our expectations without a moment of hesitation. She honored who our teen is and worked in a manner that enhanced motivation to complete assignments, while implementing a strategy that will be foundational as he approaches high school. My only sadness is that we couldn't keep her for the next 4 years. If you are lucky enough to have her in your neighborhood, hire her immediately!  You will want to. thank me. Diane has been a Godsend for our son, who is very bright but requires a quite a bit of direction and hand holding. She tirelessly worked with him during the pandemic - he basically went from straight D's to almost all A's within the year. She has also been great about helping him to learn on his own, so that he doesn't depend on her. I can't recommend her enough.

Diane has tutored my daughter in discrete math and statistics. Diane is very caring and always tries to increase my daughters confidence in math as she constantly reaches out to me to make sure all is good with her grades and always keeps me informed on her progress and/or additional needs. My daughter was having a hard time learning from her school teacher and Diane basically retaught all the material. Diane went above and beyond and emailed the teacher to get a schedule of topics etc. She's extremely organized and always tries to make last minute appointments work even if its only to meet her over zoom and late in the day. Shes has worked on creating note cards for my daughter on her own time to help her understand concepts and be better prepared for tests. She uses examples that my daughter can relate to. If she has extra time she always stays later to try and reinforce topics. Diane truly cares for my daughter and her success in school and in life. Keeping her around for sure.

Diane was super knowledgeable of not only the fundamentals of Algebra (and many other math courses) but she was also very aware of the NY state standardize test requirements. Diane's patience and approach to my daughter's processing delay was very valuable to the ultimate success in the course. I would strongly recommend Diane for any math course or for students on an IEP.

We found Diane at the end of a difficult road. Our son, normally a strong student, had a very difficult year with Algebra 2 and failed the NY State Regents Test, a requirement for graduation.

Diane worked specifically to meet my son's needs and learning style, built his confidence and showed compassion to both my son and me. She took the time to give me tools to assist my son at home during his homework and between the three of us working in concert my son improved his Algebra 2/Trig test in 5 weeks from very low to passing. Although, meeting that goal was important, the fact that she got my son to believe he could be successful again, was the bigger accomplishment. She is a gifted teacher and amazing human being.
