About Diane

I'd describe my personality as warm, trustworthy, kind. I like tutoring because my greatest joy is seeing others learn and achieve their goals. I'm looking for a job that helps learners overcome barriers and grow in confidence in language, science, and math. I started tutoring when my son was in third grade and believed he couldn't do math with pencil and paper, so we found math manipulatives--today he is an engineer. In my spare time, I like to try new recipes for healthy meals, play violin, and sing with community chorus. One thing you should know about me is that I didn't have help in math until I got to college--I believed I couldn't do calculus. Now I would like to help students internalize math early so they don't limit themselves later on. My skills include seeing things through the eyes of the learner, knowing the fundamental skills that must be mastered to move to the next level, and how to build effective links from what is known to what needs to be mastered.
