About Deborah

Hi, I have an MA in Linguistics and TESOL and over 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring native English speakers and ESOL students from elementary to highschool grades, as well as adult learners. My students have been from a variety of backgrounds and with different learning styles. With each student I focus on helping them become more confident communicators in English. To this end, I tailor the lessons to meet their personal and academic goals. I also believe that learning should be fun so I include creative activities to help my students enjoy the learning process. I look forward to working with you to improve your English skills. In addition, I speak conversational Mandarin Chinese and have experience tutoring beginning level students.

Deborah is caring, compassionate and reliable. She recently helped us care for our 82 year old mother in law who had dementia and is quite difficult to care for. Deborah was able to be with her when we couldn’t and knowing she was there was reassuring and gave us peace to know that she was being cared for competently.
