About Deborah

As a former special education teacher (currently hold Virginia teacher license) I've seen how reading difficulties can hurt a child academically and emotionally. I have a passion for teaching reading and understand that not all children learn the same way. I have experience working with children who have ADHD, autism, dyslexia, slow processing, emotional disturbances etc. and take the time and attention to determine exactly where the student is struggling so I can develop a plan to help the student reach his/her reading goals. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology from UVA, a masters of special education, and am trained in structured literacy (similar to Orton Gillingham).
