I have worked closely with students with special needs for over 5 years. It began when I was a one to one with a child who was given oxygen at only 4 years old. It was a pleasure working with him and a joy to serve him. I also began working in a inclusion classroom, where I was a one to one for a student with behavioral problems. Through much patience, endurance, compassion and love, my partnership with him, taught him and helped transformed his behavior, so much so, he was moved to a general education classroom. Because of his progression, the administrators decided to place me in a self contained classroom. It was then where I learned how to work effectively and closely with children who were diagnosed with autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, and other physical disabilities. I also had an a opportunity of working one to one with 2 autistic children for half the year as there assigned TA was out for a family leave.
