About Debbie

Hi! I'm a teacher from the Netherlands, now living in Santa Fe. I have more than 10 years of experience teaching students ages 12 to 18, from vocational and special education to advanced pre-university classes. I'm a fully qualified secondary school teacher in Social Studies and Social Sciences and have also taught History, Geography, Dutch, Religious and Cultural Studies, basic math, and study skills. I especially enjoy connecting schoolwork to a student's own world. Math can become figuring out what you can afford when saving for something you want, while Geography might start with planning a trip somewhere new. Students often understand concepts much better when they connect to real life. My approach is relaxed and practical. I'm happy to help with Social Studies, History, Geography, study skills, test prep, basic math, and general middle and high school academic support.
