While working at AMS home health care I cared for a women with Multiple sclerosis. My duties included monitoring her seizures, assisted with her mobility, and prepared her lunch daily. While working at CAS Home Care I cared for a man who was a Quadriplegic, he also had a Tracheotomy, and a Texas catheter. My duties included releasing the fluid from his trachea when needed, changing his catheter at night, bathe him daily, dressed him as well as undressed him, prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also feed him his meals. He used a Hoyer lift for transfers. The child I cared for had autism; he was 10 years of age. He didn't speak at all, if he wanted something he would grab you to show you what he wanted. If he wanted to eat he would point to his mouth. I understood him well. Sometimes it was difficult; he would have tantrums if he didn't get his way. I was afraid at first, but learned how to calm him down. He took medication on a daily basis. We want to the park often, I never feared taking him out. He was a good kid.
