I love working with people with special needs. My experience started my first year of high school where I joined a club/class for special needs students. In addition to working people with a variety of abilities, I developed a close connection with a boy who was also deaf. He helped me learn sign language, and by my senior year, I was able to help interpret for him at senior celebration events. Since 2014 I have volunteered a special needs sports league where we play softball. It is a privilege to learn, live, laugh with, and love on those athletes. I also have experience teaching adaptive swim lessons, both 1 on 1, and in groups. Last summer, I worked for 3 months with a 9-year-old boy with Autism. One of the most amazing moments of my life was watching him overcome so many fears and accomplish our goals together. Above all, we built an incredible bond based on trust and love. I have a heart for these kids, and want to empower them to let them see they are capable of great things!
