Former teacher, great with kids from babies on up. Fun, patient, flexible! Able to wear many hats: listener, homework helper, encourager, brownie maker. :-) Please contact me if any questions. Thanks!
Dana is THE BEST! She stepped in to take care of our 7-month old son for 6 weeks while my mom was traveling. She was so fantastic that we are truly going to miss her now that my mom is getting back, and I'm going to keep finding opportunities for her to babysit or nanny part-time so that our son doesn't lose contact with her. On the logistics & communication side of things: Dana is extremely reliable, trustworthy, adaptable, and communicative. She always shows up. She plans months in advance and will stay true to her promise if she said she'd be available. She arrives on time. She texted me updates and questions at the level I requested, and she herself came up with the idea of keeping a notebook tracking what happened every day so I could see naps, food, etc. She also proactively suggested things, like noticing that my son was ready for more solids, needed more warm clothes, had outgrown something, etc. On the time with the child side of things: she did a FANTASTIC job figuring out how to play with my son and keep him engaged in ways that he enjoyed. She didn't hesitate to get down on the floor with him, pick him up, cuddle, etc. He felt immediately secure with her and clearly liked her throughout - not something that is true for everyone. When I would come to pick him up, he'd be smiling constantly at her, not missing me. She truly liked him – both he and I could tell. And she also did great with anything more practical: figuring out how to get him to drink lots of milk, getting his naps on time, taking him out in the stroller, etc. I also requested that she let him play independently for at least 15 min a day so that he wouldn't lose that skill, which she did diligently. She took as much pride in his development as I did. In short, Dana is a dream-come-true nanny. I called several of her past clients for reference checks and they had said the same, but I had hesitated a bit because their kids were older or younger than mine. Now I know that Dana can adjust to any age. She truly loves kids and is full or energy!
