About Cynthia

I'd describe my personality as kind, creative, and calm. I like tutoring because I get to focus on my individual students and help them hone their skills which is incredibly rewarding. I specialize in teaching children with dyslexia how to improve their reading, phonemic awareness, spelling, writing, and reading comprehension through a multisensory approach that is evidence-based. I started tutoring in July after teaching full-time for two years at a charter school that specializes in dyslexia. I wanted to be able to give the focused and individualized attention to support children outside the classroom improve their academic abilities. In my spare time, I like to write poetry, enjoy my family, train my dog, and appreciate nature. One thing you should know about me is I am not afraid to learn something new or try out new techniques or incorporate technology to improve learning for my students. My skills include dyslexia therapy, writing, and compassion.
