New to Care
This is a criminal background check required for all caregivers before they can message families.
I've chosen the field of elder care because I cared for my Father, who had advanced Parkinson's Disease. From 2012 to 2014 I moved in with him and my Mother to help when his condition became too much for her to handle on her own, she was his primary caregiver but I was her primary relief, so I was his live-in secondary caregiver. I helped my Dad with getting in/out of bed, getting dressed, meal prep, taking meds, transportation, laundry, cleaning and perhaps most importantly companionship. Because my Father had diminishing mental clarity and mobility, he spend most of his time inside the home so he relied on me for conversation, social interaction and companionship. Most days his favorite thing to do was to watch CNN together in the living room and discuss the current events of the day. This experience changed me and sparked a deep fondness in me for caring for, spending time with and interacting with seniors.
