About COYE

I am a literacy teacher with 28 years of classroom experience, and I believe all students can rise to high expectations when they are supported, challenged, and truly seen. I don't lower the bar--I help students reach it. My work focuses on turning confused or reluctant readers and writers into confident thinkers. I teach students how to make sense of what they read, organize their ideas, and express themselves clearly in writing. Whether a student is struggling or ready to be pushed further, I meet them where they are and move them forward with purpose. I'd describe my personality as compassionate, direct, supportive. I like tutoring because in the classroom, it can take weeks to see growth. In tutoring, I can watch a student go from confused to confident in a single session-and that's powerful. I enjoy pushing students to meet high expectations and showing them they're capable of more than they think.
