I am currently a special education major and love every minute of it. I have always had a soft spot for special needs and that was apparent in my everyday life. I was a part of the Special Education club in my high school all four years, and attended the Special Olympics with the club. I would work with a variety of needs and I loved it. Over the summer I work at a week long performing arts camp and every year we have at least one child that has special needs and needs special attention. Most of my peers will work with the special needs if they have no choice but I love the kids and will gladly work with them one on one as well as having my own group of 8 to 10 kids. Special Needs children are exactly as they are called, special and I see this and love it. Everything I do is for them and I want to work with special needs children for the rest of my life. Children in general are also my passion. I am a child at heart and can get along well with children at any point in their development and skill level. I understand that each child needs something different within their care and I am ready, willing, and excited to provide that for the children I care for. I am the oldest of 11 grandchildren and I have had the opportunity to take care of each and every one of those children and help them along the way in whatever way I can. I have been changing diapers since I was 4 and taking care of children on my own since I was 13. Children are my passion and I love ever opportunity given to me to work with children in whatever way possible. From working with children at camp to assisting in a classroom setting I have done it and loved it and would love to continue on this path.
