I grew up with a little sister who had developmental disabilities. I provided care for her entire life and also acted as her legal guardian, assisting with making sure she had appropriate staff for her care & all her needs were being met. Her favorite thing to do was to be out in the world, interacting with people. She inspired me to get my first job as an adult and become a caregiver for other people with developmental disabilities. Treating people in an age-appropriate manner, with respect, and honoring their choices is very important to me. I went on to become an elementary teacher. I worked with many kids who were on the autism spectrum and many other kids who needed special help. I enjoy providing care for others. I see it as an honor to be able to improve the quality of life of others. I'm CPR certified, have a clean background & driving record, reliable transportation, & love pets.
