I have been in the social service field for over 20 years. I was also was a preschool teacher, but went back to my first love, working with people with disabilities. I worked in a residential home with girls with severe disabilities, then did respite care for a few years and loved it all. I was a job coach helping people with their jobs. For 18 years I was a job counselor working part-time. I found jobs for people with disabilities and I helped run a training program at a hotel where we taught people work and job skills. Unfortunately due to management I was forced to work different hours and location and I could not do it because of my family and I had to give up a great job. After that, I was a transition aid for a young man with autism, tutored a boy with a terminal illness, and took care of a lovely elderly woman who called me her angel. These jobs were so special to me. I decided to go back to work doing what I loved Now I work as a vocational specialist at a social service agency
