Caring for people, children, and animals has always come naturally to me, both establishing rapport with discipline, and tending to their needs. Through both high school and university, I babysat and gave animal care to help support myself. Prior to that, I cared for siblings, cousins, and neighborhood pets. As an adult, I have been a full-time and part time caregiver for children, adults and pets. I taught public high school English for 7 years and have also been a substitute teacher for grades K-12 an additional seven years. Though caregiving can sometimes be intense, I have been able to find many effective methods to diffuse upsets and to reestablish equanimity and cooperation. Colleen has been working with us for 3.5 months. Her role has been as nanny as well as virtual school facilitator and tutor. She has strong skills and experience in literature, reading, and social studies. This has been so helpful for our 9 year old daughter's class work and learning. She has also assisted with our 12 year old son's middle school learning and schedule management. She is kind, personable, and trustworthy. i am able to feel that my children are safe when they are with her. She is highly motivated and willing to help with other household needs as well. She juggles and manages multiple responsibilities well.
