About Colette

Hi! Thanks for your interest. I tutor in reading/writing/math and my approach to teaching young children is through expertise, kindness, fun and laughter, with positive reinforcement systems when helpful. I seek to strength existing academic skills, as well as to build on those with new needed skills/strategies. In addition, I utilize a multi sensory approach and have training in Orton-Gillingham, PAF, and Wilson (Fundations). While instructing young children in all subject areas, it is also my goal to increase student confidence with sincere tangible praise and activities/lessons designed with their personal instructional level in mind. My Master's degree is in Special Education from Fordham U. I taught K & 1 in Westchester Co for over 10 years, before raising my son and daughter. Just a side note: I am very knowledgeable in 123 Magic and have extensive childcare experience as well:) Many references available. -Colette
