My qualities of patience, flexibility, prayer-fullness, a sense of humor, compassion, and respectfulness have been enhanced as a result of care-giving. Experience with Alzheimer's patients has caused me to grow in patience and understanding of their often childlike needs for attention/approval. My work history includes teaching high school science in the Hawaii school system, serving as a therapeutic massage therapist, and working in the hospitality industry. I cook and serve cheerfully. My last 8 years have focused on care-giving work. I entered this field when a friend requested that I care for her Alzheimer's stricken mother. I am versed in first aid, CPR, the Heimlich maneuver and stroke/heart attack recognition. Local references are available.
