We interviewed this candidate by phone and in person, and offered her the position, which she accepted. Two hours before her first training shift, she called to say she had pink eye and could not attend. We gave her the benefit of the doubt, spoke by phone afterward, answered her questions, and confirmed a new training date and time. She did not show up for the next training day, nor did she call, text, or respond to any follow-up communication. The complete lack of communication after accepting the position made her unreliable and caused us to waste valuable time that could have been spent interviewing other candidates. Based on this experience, I would not hire her again.
