I have 6 years of experience as a caregiver to those with special needs. I have spent two years caring for a young man with Down Syndrome and thoroughly enjoyed providing him my friendly assistance and companionship. In addition, I have several months of experience working with a young woman with cerebral palsy. Assisting my clients in meeting their person-centered planning goals to enhance their quality of life is what I believe to be the most important aspect of my job. Some of the duties I had as a caregiver to my client with Down Syndrome were: personal care tasks (i. e. dressing, bathing, toileting supervision), providing transportation and companionship for social outings and events, advocating for my client and providing supervision. My responsibilities in serving the needs of my client with Cerebral Palsy were: housekeeping duties such as cleaning the bathroom, kitchen/dishes, changing bedding and vacuuming; and transporting and accompanying to the grocery store.
