Hi! My experience with special needs is developing currently, I take care of a 10-year-old girl with autism. She is also nonverbal, which has helped me understand non verbal communication better and be able to correct challenging behaviors by deciphering the reason. My responsibilities include getting her ready for school and on the bus. This includes meal prep, wake up time, getting dressed etc. I also occasionally watch her at her house, accompanying her while she does her own thing mostly. I have also worked with a 19-year-old boy with autism, I drove him to activities and accompanied him in public to ensure safety. It's hard to rattle me, I'm incredibly patient and take pride in being adaptive and respectful during hard moments. I also find it important to be cognizant of ability, as to not limit or undermine any individual. I will reflect that with my care, if you're interested!
