Experience: 11 yrs
11 years of experience have fueled my passion for enriching the lives of adults and seniors. My background includes home health, where I've honed my skills in providing transportation, running errands, light housekeeping, and preparing meals. I also assist with mobility, physical activity, and medical management. I am adept at supporting those with dementia, incorporating memory care activities, and de-escalating stressful situations. I prioritize creating a comfortable environment for care recipients and maintain open communication with families through regular updates via text or phone, always respecting their preferred method. Compassionate, friendly, and detail-oriented, I strive to make a positive impact each day, and I'm excited to use my car and my skills to bring comfort and support to your family.
We were incredibly fortunate to have Chiedza care for my mother full-time for the last seven months of her life. When we hired her, she was new to Care.com and had no reviews, so we were taking a chance based on our interview and our impression of her. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made. Chiedza was exceptionally reliable. She worked full-time weekdays for our family and never missed a single day during the seven months she was with us. She was punctual, dependable, and always willing to pick up additional hours when we needed help. As anyone caring for an elderly parent with dementia knows, that kind of reliability is invaluable. When Chiedza first started, my mother required relatively little physical assistance, so much of Chiedza's role was companionship. As the dementia progressed, Chiedza was able to adjust with her. She learned how to redirect my mom when she became confused or fixated on something and was very patient when the same questions or behaviors repeated. She never seemed frustrated by the progression of the disease and handled those moments calmly and naturally. As my mother's condition continued to decline, Chiedza transitioned seamlessly into providing complete care. By the end, she was feeding, bathing, toileting, repositioning, and assisting my mother with virtually every aspect of daily living. She handled each stage with competence, patience, compassion, and dignity. During the final three months of my mother's life, she was wheelchair- and bedbound and completely dependent on others for her care. Despite her immobility, she never developed a pressure ulcer. As a physician, I understand how difficult that can be to prevent in a fully dependent, immobile patient, and I believe it speaks volumes about Chiedza's attentiveness, consistency, and quality of care. Communication was another one of Chiedza's strengths. At the end of every shift, she gave me a detailed report about how my mother had done that day—how she ate, her mood, her care needs, and anything else our family needed to know. I never had to wonder what had happened during the day, and I always felt that when Chiedza was there, my mother was safe and in excellent hands. Most importantly, Chiedza genuinely cared about my mother. She consistently went beyond simply performing the duties of a caregiver and treated her with kindness and humanity, even as caring for her became increasingly demanding. Over those seven months, she became someone our entire family trusted deeply. Chiedza even came to my mother's funeral after she passed, which touched our family tremendously and demonstrated that the relationship she developed with my mother extended far beyond a job. Because Chiedza had no Care.com reviews when we hired her, I especially want other families to know what we wish someone could have told us at the time: **you can feel confident entrusting someone you love to her care.** Our family would hire Chiedza again without hesitation. She was an outstanding caregiver and companion to my mother, and during one of the most difficult seasons of our family's life, she truly was an angel to us.
