I cared for my mother in her home after developing neuropathy from receiving an incorrect dosage amount of chemotherapy in her preventative care after having a rectal tumor removed. The neuropathy disabled my mother because it completely fried all the nerves in her hands and feet; the doctor said it was the worst case he ever saw. I was her sole provider of health care and did everything: bathing, all other hygiene care, cooking, shopping, laundry, and cleaning. All of this was in conjunction with being a single mom raising two boys ages 4 & 6 at the time. I continued this for almost 6 months until she finally agreed to go to a residential care facility where she could receive the therapy she needed in order to return to some sort of quality of life.
