About Cayla

I started tutoring after I completed my degree in Journalism and Media Studies. While I do use my degree to help with english tutoring, I also tutor in math as well. I had a friend who struggled with basic math, but really wanted to complete the ASVAB to get into the army. So I tutored him on the basics, from completing long division problems to algebraic expressions. I, too, was that kid that struggled in math -- and not because it was hard, but there's so much anxiety around it that causes kids to be scared to try! So I work extra hard to be the tutor they can feel comfortable in, and confide in when they are struggling to complete a problem. I like to walk my students through the problems first and have them try a few problems themselves. I won't insert myself until I know they've tried it on their own first, and I will help them second. Like I mentioned before, gaining confidence in a subject you need help in is the first goal before anything.
