I took care of my parents for 5 years. My dad had cancer but passed away from organ complications in Oct. 2022. My mom had dementia and suffered with low blood pressure. She passed away Jan. 2025. It was a lot being the primary caregiver, but God gave me the strength. I took them to doctor appts and managed their medications, as well as cooked, and assisted my mom with hygiene care. I received my CPR certification during this time period. I also helped take care of an aunt who suffered from multiple strokes. I assisted with her care at different facilities, attended doctor appts, and helped her with physical therapy exercises. It was a lot of work, but it was also rewarding.
