I first gained a heart for special needs children when I cared for a young boy who was wheelchair-bound and had daily seizures. I had to feed him through a tube, suction his mouth and nose frequently, and I maintained records of the seizure activity. Since then, as a substitute teacher, I have worked in Special Education classes from first grade up through high school. I just have such a heart for these kids and have built up patience for their way of life. I understand the value of routine and predictability; therefore, I will follow your instructions to the letter.
