I have 10+ years of Elder Care experience, for Northern Light Health, & private clients, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's. I believe my role is to help my clients remain in charge of their own lives, & attain the best quality of life possible, according to THEIR needs & wishes, while always prioritizing safety. I actively look for opportunities for meaningful social engagement & mental stimulation, again, according to my client's wishes & interests. This might be enjoying a delicious meal ( I love to cook), some good laughs, a fun activity or outing, or lively conversation with friends and family. It could be providing the space & quiet to read a good book-or be read to- or simply rest & relax for a while. Listening closely & empathetically, along with a calm demeanor & sense of humor, are all key to providing a sense of safety & security for my clients. I have never worked for a Senior who did not have very interesting stories to tell, if someone just asks!
