I am a mathematics, physics and Spanish as a second language teacher-tutor with 20 years of classroom and tutoring experience in different school settings, which involve teaching-tutoring in the United States as well as my native Venezuela in South America. 
I successfully completed my bachelor's degree program in Mathematics and Physics Education at the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello located in Caracas, Venezuela. 
As a native Spanish speaker (Fully bilingual English-Spanish), I also offer Spanish tutoring to those interested in improving their Spanish skills in conversation and/or grammar.

Carlos takes the time to explain the "why" to my student and is invested in my student understanding the material. Honestly the best tutor we've found.

He came to work for me in January, 2008 while I was the Instructional Department Chair for Mathematics in Norfolk, VA. He replaced an experienced teacher who was promoted to an administrative position. He distinguished himself at that time as a competent professional educator, an adaptable teacher, and a valued colleague. After that semester, he rejoined the Christel House Foundation at their Indianapolis location. He had previously worked for Christel House in his native Venezuela.  

He is a highly competent educator, dedicated to the advancement of students. He adapts quickly and easily to new situations and contributes to the success of all.  He is highly motivated and routinely gives time and effort beyond that which is required to support group goals:  for student achievement, for collegial team planning, and for the school as a whole. He has a keen sense of people and the ability to connect with and draw on the strengths of everyone. He adeptly manages multiple priorities in the workplace.

As a teacher, Carlos delivered well-organized lessons demanding student accountability, won over the loyalty of his students with his competence in mathematics, and communicated effectively with parents in face-to-face conferences, written emails, and telephone calls. He quickly became a contributing member of both the Geometry and Algebra II instructional teams:  sharing instructional techniques, focusing assessment instruments on target objectives, and utilizing a variety of technological resources to prepare students for the End Of Course (EOC) Standards of Learning (SOL) tests. He made himself available to students for extra help during both paid and unpaid afternoon and Saturday sessions.  The high test scores registered by his students are evidence of the learning which results from his excellent teaching. His experience in other schools and administrative perspective give him a balanced view of external measures as reflections of student learning.  

As a colleague, Carlos quickly made himself part of the department of eighteen math teachers. He maximized the benefits derived from others and from partnering with them.  His optimism and can-do attitude added to the camaraderie of our department and the professional focus of daily interaction. He provided motivation to early-career teachers and offered a fresh outlook to veterans. He willingly contributed to group efforts supporting colleagues and students by covering classes, supervising testing, and coordinating logistics as needed. His decorum, professional dress, and excellent attendance record are models for both colleagues and for the future professionals that are his current students.

Carlos would be an excellent Math Tutor or other care giver for children. He is a dedicated family man, and his wife's background as a science educator gives him added perspective into disciplines beyond mathematics.
