About Carla

I am a retired school teacher with 15+ years of experience who truly enjoys helping children learn and grow. At 61, with my twin sons now grown, tutoring allows me to continue living purposefully by supporting children and families. I bring kindness, patience, reliability, and experience to every student I work with. My love for tutoring began during student teaching in San Diego when I helped a child understand fractions for the first time. Seeing that moment of confidence inspired my passion for teaching. I have experience teaching elementary and junior high students, test preparation skills, and experience scoring state-level essay papers. I believe in structure, encouragement, and helping students build confidence while reaching their goals. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, church, spending time with friends, and staying active at the gym.
