About Caleb

I currently study Developmental Psychology at the Teachers College of Columbia. I have over 7 years tutoring experience and currently tutor middle school and high school math up until algebra. Additionally, do advising for college admissions. My tutoring style focuses on helping children to have a greater conceptual understanding of content, rather than solely building procedural knowledge. Children often have gaps in knowledge due to instruction that relies on memorization of steps and not true understanding of content. My main philosophy, however, is that children need to be intrinsically motivated and not extrinsically motivated. Children always thrive more when they WANT to improve themselves.
