In the very beginning of the pandemic I moved back to my home state of Maine to care for a dear family friend with dementia. Having earned my degree in Education and having spent my whole adult life working with kids, I wasn't sure how the transition to working in senior care would be. But it was the most rewarding experience of my life. The trust and bond I formed with the individual I cared for, the moments of levity and the hard ones, the work and the play taught me that it wasn't kids or education that I loved, it was forming connections with people and helping them through whatever stage of their life they are in.
