About Caitlin

Empowering elementary students to reach their full potential is at the core of my teaching practice. I am a New York State Certified Special Education teacher with three years of experience in both general and special education settings, currently teaching kindergarten in an ICT classroom, in Riverdale. I specialize in early elementary instruction including reading, math, and foundational skills, with extensive experience supporting students with IEPs and 504 plans. I tailor instruction to each child's learning style using visual supports, hands-on activities, movement, and discussion. For early readers, I focus on phonics, decoding, sight words, fluency, and comprehension, as well as executive functioning skills like attention, organization, and independence. I break skills into manageable steps, celebrate progress, and maintain strong communication with families. Seeing students grow in confidence is the most rewarding part of my work.
