I have been working with and caring for special needs children for 7 years. I was a peer tutor for children with disabilities from 1st grade through my senior year of high school so I have experience with caring for and helping to teach life skills to people with disabilities. I have attended Club, Special Olympics, and have taken my special friends on different fun outings around town. I have cared for children with Downs Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and many other assorted physical and mental disabilities. Although I have experience, I acknowledge everyone is different and has specific needs. I believe that those with handicaps, physical or mental, have the ability to appreciate all life has to offer. They endure a wide variety of hardships on a daily basis, yet have an unwavering attitude of positivity. Spending time with them has truly opened my eyes to all life can be.
