I began working with special needs children in 2015 at a Child Care Center for Special Needs in Dale City, Virginia. I worked with primarily younger children with severe disabilities. I would feed them, change them, and assist in moving them from their chairs. I would do hand over hand activities, sensory activities, crafts, and taking them outside (if able to). I also worked with toddlers with autism and toddlers with down syndrome. I then had to leave to begin attending Radford University to study occupational therapy. I came back to work at the child care center May 2017 to July 2017 before coming back to school. I realized after working at the day care center that the children I cared for were amazing and I knew there were more children out there that need help so I want to be there for them. Each child no matter the disability deserves the right to do so many things that other children can do.
