I have a lot of experience with autism in both children and adults. My passion for this area stems from my own son, now 21, who is on the autistic spectrum. What a journey it has been! I also have experience with dementia, as my grandmother, who lived with my parents (very close by), and I were very close. She had dementia for years, and I spent a lot of time (as an adult) with her.

Beth came into our lives in 2010. My brother, who has Aspergers, was in need of a companion. While he was high functioning and relatively independent he struggled with social interactions and was unable to drive. So through a friend of a friend we met Beth. Initially, Beth and my brother went out together every other weekend. Pretty soon it was every weekend and now it is every weekend and Beth cooks for him one evening during the week. Beth is a gourmet cook. Activities include movies, concerts, museums both in Wilmington and Philadelphia, local festivals, restaurant dining, grocery shopping etc. Beth has changed my brothers life! While he still faces challenges, his social skills are much improved and he is enjoying life. She understands him and brings out the best in him. She is a gem and we are truly blessed to have found her!
