I have been a nanny and music teacher for over 15 years! I am able to teach a variety of instruments - saxophone, recorder, violin, drums, and among other instruments. I offer lessons! I'd like to provide excellent temporary or last minute days of care for your family. Your children will love doing many different crafts and projects with me. I hired Avis for about a week to care for my 4-year-old son. She was delightful. She came up with creative activities and kept my son engaged and happy all day. She even managed to get him down for nap time, which can be a challenge in our home. After the week, my son asked when she would be coming back because he enjoyed his time with her. 

I highly recommend Avis and look forward to hiring her again in the near future.

She only does drop-in care which is cool. But when you need immediate care she takes 2-3 days to respond! Not ideal for drop-in care. I'm just saying. Good luck with this one.

I was very impressed with Avis' profile and was eager to speak with her over the phone. I gave her my phone number and she failed to call me during the day at the agreed upon time (planned work meetings around it) and texted me in the evening saying she was not feeling well and would call me when she felt better. I never heard from her even after reaching out again. 

Avis was able to accommodate us on short notice to help care for a sick 1 year old.  She was on time, friendly and my son took to her instantly.  Avis was recommend to us by another nanny and she did a wonderful job caring for my son.  I would definitely recommend her and hope to work with her again.

Avis watches our two kids (ages 2 and 4) part-time, and the kids love spending time with her and ask about her frequently! They spend time in the park or playing games at home. Avis watched my 8.5 month old at varying times last week while I went on job interviews. She was extremely punctual and accommodating, friendly, and efficient. This was my first time using a sitter outside of family, which of course made me slightly nervous. Avis said she wanted to put my mind at ease so I could focus on my interviews, which was very thoughtful. I came home to a happy, rested, and fed baby - so what more can you ask for? I will definitely use Avis again. 

Avis came to help us take care of our 11-month sick baby since last week. She is simply superb. She knows how to communicate with baby and our son really has a wonderful time. Definitely 5-star! Or maybe 6-star!

Avis came over for New Year's Eve to give my husband and myself a much needed date night. She agreed to watching our children before knowing how far we were. She drove over 50 miles and showed up on time.  She was accompanied by my mother who was recently disabled by a bad fall. We left, got no alarming phone calls or complaints. Avis came in and took over as if she had been with us for years. Upon our return I found everyone happily sitting in the living room, our ten month old fast asleep. I thanked her and paid her. When she left my mother could not stop singing her praises. She was extremely professional. She was amazing with my children. Even this morning my mother had nothing but good things to say. I would absolutely hire Avis again. I only wish we lived closer. 

Avis has one of the best profiles I've ever seen on Care.com with exceptional reviews and safety background. She was our leading candidate when it came to finding a reputable, safe, and punctual sitter on care.com during our vacation to D.C. 

I corresponded with Avis for three days to set up a phone interview. I extended my hiring timeline by a day to accommodate her schedule because she was my leading candidate. 

On Thursday evening when I posted the add, she strongly encouraged me to call her for a phone interview late Thursday, but I didn't have cell coverage from where I was at that evening. She said she could talk on Saturday until after 5pm. I proposed an 8:30pm phone interview. She asked if I could mark her as hired, which I felt uncomfortable doing until I talked with her. I happened to mention that I had spoken with another final candidate and was trying to make a decision quickly and would like to do so by Saturday night (as the job was for Monday). She declined my phone interview suggesting I had already made a decision on the other candidate (which we did not). 

I'm sure Avis is an outstanding caregiver, but the communication was highly awkward with unnecessary high pressure to prematurely confirm hire. 

Nonetheless, her passion for kids and music positively leaps out to you in her communication.

We are so blessed to have Avis. She helped with homework, played games and kept my boys happy and engaged. She is also very professional. Prompt communication and punctual. Thank you Avis!

Avis has watched our 8 month old for a few weeks now.  She's always been extremely punctual and fantastic with our little boy. I love that she takes him outside on walks, reads to him and watches him with the same attention (and patience) that I do.  I know that he's safe and having a great time when she's with him.  What more could you ask for?

We have loved working with Avis so far.  She is warm and kid, very professional, always early, and very easy to communicate with.  My 2 yr old daughter is constantly playing when she is over.  I highly recommend her.

Avis applied, was interviewed and hired for a job to work 2 mornings a week for the entire school year. She committed to the entire school year. She requested cash only as payment and that was agreed upon. She was unhappy that she would be paid weekly and after care was rendered and quit after the first day when told her I would not pay until after care was provided. She was pleasant with myself and children. References provided were excellent personal references but not childcare providers.

I appreciate Avis for taking the time to apply for our open job posting for back up childcare.  She was courteous and flexible.  I hope to consider her for future opportunities with working with our family.

It was great working with Avis for my last minute child care needs. She was awesome, professional, and really easy to work with which was important because we were in a pinch. She's a natural and kept my son entertained and busy. Really hope to work with her in the future!
