About Avery

Hello there! My name is Avery. I am 20 years old and currently pursuing my B. S. in Biology at Armstrong. I realized my calling in life was to help others when I was 15. My dad was diagnosed with brain cancer, and he was wheelchair bound. I helped him get in and out of his chair and bed, brushing his teeth and hair, cooking for him and helping him eat, and taking him outside, which was his favorite thing to do. It was difficult taking care of him, but it helped me realize that caring for others is what I was meant to do. I started work at a retirement community, I was in charge of daily activities and meal prep. Since then I have volunteered at several other assisted living communities, where I read books to people and helped with medicine. Sometimes I'd even bring my violin to play for the residents, which they loved. As your loved one's caregiver, my goal would be to not only help them stay safe and comfortable, but to continue to live life colorfully!
