Hello! I'm Avery I go to Ohio University for early childhood education. I have been babysitting for 5 years and am looking for a 2022 summer nanny job. I like being active outside the household (i. e zoo trips, pool days, lunch outings, etc) I like to create fun positive environments while also remaining stern when need be! Trying to keep a good balance of playful and silly while still being safe and well behaved. Hoping to get as much experience working with children in preparation for my full time job.
We hired Avery for a summer babysitting job mostly to watch our 9yo son, but also to transport/taxi our 12yo and 14yo to various camps and activities. After we told her that we were choosing her of all the candidates, she then negotiated for a higher compensation than what we had offered. It was getting pretty late in the school year and we needed to lock someone in and felt like we had no choice but to agree. At first Avery started out ok, but she quickly became enervated, spending more time on her phone than initiating engagement with our child. We have a very active child and he consistently asked her to play and engage with him and she frequently declined, saying that she didn't feel like it. Then spent most of the day on our couch looking at her phone. On 3 occasions over the summer, she texted us the morning of work saying that she was sick and could not come in that day. When later asked about her sickness, she said it was a bad headache each time. There were several days she showed up to work extremely tired, like she had been out all night. Lastly, she unexpectedly quit on us 1 week earlier than agreed. She said that she did not get along with our son and that she wanted to focus on her upcoming internship. She forced me and my wife to unexpectedly take off work several days last minute and left us scrambling the final week. I would not recommend anyone use her for watching your kids. She lacks the proper demeanor to be a respected caregiver and is not reliable.
