Experience: 2 yrs
The past two years I had the honor of caring for my Grandma Louise in her home until she passed this December. It was a privilege to be her main caregiver in hospice. The experience taught me how to care for another who doesn't have the ability to care for themselves the way they used to. I learned how to balance an individual's choice, independence and dignity while being able to care for them in making meals, overseeing medication, participating in doctor visits, shopping, housekeeping, bathing, changing, using the restroom. I learned how to listen, care, and advocate for my grandma when she could no longer verbalize her needs. Along with these essential tasks we also spent quality time together which is just as important. I have experience with dialysis, surgery, pain med withdrawals, anxiety and depression as well as communicating with family members and hospital staff. I'm happy to provide references and feedback from family members and hospice workers concerning my care.
Aubrey helped care for my mom in her last months and weeks of her life— she was even there for night shifts when mom was on hospice. Aubrey showed genuine love and compassion in her care and made sure my mom was comfortable and calm during her final hours. Aubrey has an innate ability to love all people and is so good at helping elderly people maintain their dignity. She will take great care of your loved one!!
