Ashley worked for my family from July 6-August 18th. I hoped she would have been with us longer but in that short time, she proved to be unreliable, inconsistent, and untrustworthy. She showed up late multiple times, and less than 2 weeks after she started she claimed her brother surprised her with an unplanned Florida vacation during the 1st week in August. I agreed to her vacation request and she quickly spiraled when she returned. Her 1st shift after vacation she took a 1 hour and 45-minute break while still on the clock. I paid her for this time but told her that couldn't happen again. That same day she left dirty bibs, burb cloths, and an empty Enfamil can in my kitchen. The very next day she asked for a pay advance because she had “some bills I need to pay.” This request was not only inappropriate but it was also poorly timed on the heels of her being paid for almost 2 hours she didn't work. Today was the last straw. I texted her 30min before her shift with instructions on how to get into the building. She texted back 20 minutes before her shift claiming she had a flat tire and would not be able to work at all today. I’m not sure why arriving late and/or taking an Uber was not an option today since she has done both in the past. For the most part, while she was here she kept my daughter fed, clean, and engaged. However, one of the reasons I hired Ashley is because she’s bilingual, I had to repeatedly ask her to speak Spanish with my daughter. I also had to repeatedly ask her to send my baby’s stats (# of bottles, dirty diapers, and nap time)before she clocked out. Ashley may be good as a backup sitter, but if your family needs someone on a daily or weekly basis, I wouldn't recommend her.
