About Ashley

I'd describe my personality as patient, intuitive and a warm demander. I enjoy seeing students grow in their learning and take their reading skills and apply them to other content such as science and history. I started tutoring when I was pursuing my teaching credential 10 years ago. I currently hold a single subject credential in English, and a multiple subject credential. One thing you should know about me is I struggled in school when it came to English; specifically writing. I'm passionate about finding ways for students to better understand how to read and write so they can enjoy English. My skills include understanding structured literacy and what skills are needed to become a strong reader (word recognition, fluency, comprehension). I have a variety of activities and lessons that give students the ability to learn in a more fun and engaging way. I have only taught in testing grade levels, so my teaching also encompasses preparing students for state testing.
