About Ashlea

I began tutoring as a sophomore college student, working specifically with students specific learning disabilities, assisting with note taking and providing study strategies for test taking. I started tutoring high school and elementary students the summer of my junior year, working on skills in pre-literacy, literacy, and math. I continued to tutor through college and through my years as an educator. I went on to receive my Master's in Special Education, working with students K-8 in a high needs urban environment, all with vastly different learning styles and needs. I taught in various settings ranging from self-contained to resource to inclusionary for 8 years before moving to Chicago. I have 10 years experience designing and implementing skills-based curriculum and core skill remediation. As a teaching artist, I value kinesthetic and tactile approaches to learning. I have worked with theater companies with designing and teaching curriculum for students on the autism spectrum.
