About Arlene

Arlene has been nothing short of extraordinary in my life and in my mother’s care. I’ve often said I needed a clone of myself to handle everything I juggle — and Arlene became exactly that. She stepped into our world when my mom was in the moderate stage of early‑onset Lewy body dementia, while also living with dialysis‑dependent ESRD, two co‑morbidities that are profoundly difficult even on their own. Managing both together requires exceptional skill, vigilance, and emotional strength, and Arlene brought all of that from day one. She became a fierce advocate, sometimes advocating for my mom even more strongly than I could in the moment. She took dialysis seriously, understanding that one missed session could mean life or death. Her reliability — which is incredibly rare in caregiving — gave me peace of mind during a time when everything felt fragile. As my mom’s dementia progressed into the advanced stage, Arlene leaned on her own experience caring for her parents, including her father with dementia and her mother after a stroke. She helped me keep my mom’s life full of meaning for as long as possible. She became like family to me, like an aunt whose strong opinions always came from a place of love and protection. I could not have gone through caring for my mom alone while raising two young kids, one with special needs. Arlene supported me not just as a caregiver, but as a source of wisdom, emotional grounding, and practical guidance. She has babysat my children, loved my dog, and woven herself into the fabric of our family with ease. She is a health nut, a truth‑teller, a steady presence, and one of the most fiercely loyal advocates I’ve ever known. Arlene is exceptional. She didn’t just care for my mom — she cared for all of us. I am forever grateful for her.
