I grew up with a sibling on the spectrum who needed a lot of support at times, so I know how challenging it can be to find a caregiver with the patience and experience to provide the assistance you need. As someone with who has been on both sides I am confident that I will be able to give a little relief to families with special needs. But more importantly, I give the clients confidence and dignity. I try hard to understand, though I know that I cannot always, for me it is important for them to see that I will not infantalize them. Because needing extra help does not mean you deserve less autonomy and respect!
