Experience: 20 yrs
I have over 35 years of teaching experience with students of all ages, from toddlers to grandparents. Five of those teaching years were overseas, so I truly enjoy learning about other cultures and languages. Each person is unique in the way they best learn, but overall, we need to be relaxed and trust the person we are with to learn from them. With younger children, I play games and sometimes do some silly things to get to know them better. For older children and students, I individualize lessons around their interests whenever possible. Learning should be fun no matter what your age is! I care about helping people, and I give students (and/or their parents) the feedback and suggestions they need on ways to develop and improve the skills they are working on.

My daughter struggled with testing anxiety and confidence, we thought tutoring would help. We were so pleased with April's ability to offer calming strategies and the confidence needed to make better choices on exams and time management. Smiles instead of tears is worth the effort. I recommend April, especially for writing.
