When I was 3 years old, my older sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor. To treat her tumor, she underwent radiation that permanently damaged her brain. So, for as long as I can remember, I've had lived with someone that requires 24/7 care. Because of this, I have gained so much experience in working with people who have special needs. For my sister, I've helped her with everything from administering medication to bathing/showering/dressing/feeding to helping her feel loved and valued. I've also helped children with Down syndrome in a school setting. I'm really passionate about helping people with special needs, and I understand how to use positive reinforcement to help people feel understood!
