If you truly love a family member in need of care, do whatever you can to arrange for Anne to become that person's caregiver. It's that simple. Our mother had suffered a terrible injury and was languishing in a skilled nursing facility over a thousand miles away from us, alone nearly all day, every day. We hired Anne to look in on her. What a God-send. As a registered nurse, she immediately and instinctively began to improve the quality of her daily care. She visited twice per day, spending up to an hour each time, catching her up on her physical therapy and other care needs. But even more important, Anne immediately bonded with our mom, and from a near-coma, mom responded to Anne's genuine human compassion and caring and began to wake up again. Our mom seemed to look forward through her brain fog to Anne's visits, and at each visit she mustered the strength that everyone else assumed had been lost forever.
